An example BEM process:

1. Introduction of the BEM

After a longer period of illness (more than six weeks per year), the affected employee is informed personally or in writing about the BEM and invited to participate voluntarily.

2. Analysis of the initial situation

In a confidential meeting, the employee discusses health challenges, working conditions, and potential barriers to return to work. The goal is to understand the causes of absenteeism.

3. Development of individual measures

Based on the analysis, measures are developed together with all parties involved (e.g. employees, managers, company doctor if necessary) to facilitate the return to work, such as workplace adjustments or flexible working hours.

4. Implementation of the measures

The agreed measures are implemented and regularly reviewed to ensure that they achieve the desired effects.
