Remote Assessment for our client Aareon

Our client’s request

Our long-standing client, the Aareon AG, sets a high standard of quality to the selection of their managers. For this reason, one of the multiple steps in the selection process is an Assessment Center. It is compiled specifically for the target position and is carried out in a tandem constellation (internal and external).

The challenge

Due to travel regulations in March 2020 and the necessity to still carry out the selection process quickly to make a hiring decision, the so-far utilized on-site procedure was converted into a Remote AC. In doing so, it was important to display the same requirements and expectations towards the participant as in the on-site procedure. To ensure this, an online test (“Analytische Fähigkeiten im Beruf“, in short: AFB; engl.: “Analytical skills on-the-job”) was alternatively implemented. On top of that, the “virtual face-to-face part” consisted of a role play and a self-presentation with a follow-up interview. The participant as well as the observers were dialed in to the execution process at the respective times. The observer conference for discussing results also took place virtually.

The conclusion

Apart from a few „blurred images“ during the role play, the observers were able to gather a very good impression of the participant, despite the distance. Even communicative competencies, such as facing observers while carrying out tasks, eye contact and open demeanor were well observable and were reflected to the participant as one of the strengths. The initially unfamiliar feeling of not sitting together in one room dissipates quite fast and you quickly get accustomed to the virtual setting by the precise steering and moderation of the process and content.

1 Remote Setting

Our consultant conducts the assessment from our KI.M-premises - observers and participants connect via a common video conferencing system, independent of location. The realistic modules of the AC are optimally adapted to the remote setting.
We also offer extensive remote training courses in advance for professional handling of the program, e.g. Webex or Skype for Business.
Through our proven KI.PAT technology, the remote assessment is consolidated in real time in compliance with strict data protection guidelines and is immediately available in our cloud-based solution.

2 What our client says about the Remote AC

The Aareon AG had the challenge of filling a position that had been vacant for a longer period of time. After a suitable candidate had been pre-selected, an Assessment Center was supposed to take place quickly. Since not all people involved could gather around one table on short notice, our long-standing partner, the KI.M, offered us to conduct the AC remotely. The scheduling and realization, i.e. the adaptation of the procedure to the remote setting, happened quickly and without difficulties, as per usual with KI.M. The Assessment Center’s execution ran smoothly, too. We had sufficient observations, which we were able to quickly and systematically consolidate via video conference. That way, we had a valid foundation for a fast hiring decision.
