How we make our work sustainable

 

The Cologne Institute for Management Consulting stands for ecological action, social engagement, and sustainable learning.

We firmly believe that companies play a significant role in shaping a responsible and sustainable society for the future. Therefore, sustainability, social responsibility, and continuous learning are central themes in our company philosophy.

 

Our contribution to sustainability: Ecological Action

Our company is committed to ecological action. We prioritize using trains for business travel and utilize electric cars as company vehicles to reduce our CO2 emissions. Additionally, we promote mobile working from home offices to minimize commuting. By providing job tickets and railcards to our employees, we actively support the use of public transportation.

To conserve resources, we conduct assessment centers paperlessly using our KI.PAT technology and increasingly rely on digital formats such as online training, interviews, and remote assessment centers to avoid traveling and reduce CO2 emissions. Furthermore, when providing catering for events, we use fair-trade, vegetarian, and vegan products to promote sustainable and ethical practices.

Our efforts over the past years are paying off: By conducting more remote processes and utilizing digital methods, we have been able to reduce our paper usage by half.

These measures are part of our commitment to environmentally friendly corporate governance and demonstrate our contribution to environmental protection and the promotion of sustainable practices, which we aim to establish beyond the boundaries of our company.

What sets us apart: Social Engagement

We are also actively engaged in the social sector to make a positive contribution to society. Since 2002, we have been supporting the association LebensWert e.V. by providing free coaching for cancer patients to assist them in re-entering the workforce or considering a career change. We support athletes in transitioning after their sports careers in collaboration with the Sportstiftung NRW, helping to transfer resources from sports to the new phase of their lives and providing guidance for the post-athletic period.

Additionally, we support the Lions Club Köln-Rhenus Christmas campaign by producing an Advent calendar, with the proceeds going to various social projects.

Every year, at the Cologne Bridge Run, we donate a fixed amount per kilometer run by our employees to a social project. Our event series "congredi coeln" also serves a good cause, as the proceeds of the event are donated to charitable causes. Many of our employees also volunteer in sports or social activities in their free time.

Our focus: Sustainable Learning

Our overarching corporate goal is to develop individuals within organizations responsibly, enhancing their performance and personal satisfaction. Therefore, the sustainable impact of learning holds significant importance for us. We rely on innovative technologies and formats to optimize personnel selection and development processes.

Our learning concepts combine digital training elements with interactive in-person phases and diverse methodological approaches to address different learning styles and achieve sustainable learning success. We emphasize a balance between knowledge transfer and practical relevance by providing ample opportunities for exercises and hands-on application, promoting long-term transfer to the professional environment. In addition to our knowledge transfer measures, we support sustainable learning through follow-up sessions and continuously evaluate the long-term success of our offerings.

As part of our commitment, we offer a variety of internships to give students insight into our working methods and allow them to gain practical experience. 

We are also proud to have been recognized by the IHK in 2023 for outstanding performance in vocational training (Office Management Clerk). Our commitment to sustainable learning is reflected in all our educational initiatives, demonstrating our dedication to empowering people and promoting long-term successful development.

Furthermore, we support the next generation of young consultants by enabling aspiring members of the student consultancy MarcAurelConsult e.V. to gain initial practical experience in external projects. For example, the Associates have already conducted a market analysis on HR topics. In this context, we offer motivated students the opportunity to translate their academic knowledge into practical applications in business psychology issues.
